Italian antitrust authority fines Apple €10M over waterproofing claims

Italian antitrust authority AGCM has fined Apple €10 million ($12M) over misleading commercial practices claiming about the iPhones waterproofing, According to Reuters.

AGCM said in a statement, The first concern of promotional messages is some iPhone models are water-resistant, however, the Authority claims the message was not clear that this claim only applies under certain conditions like controlled lab tests with pure water, and not in the normal conditions of use of the iPhone by customer.

Also, AGCM added Apple’s disclaimer indicates “The guarantee does not cover damage caused by liquids”, tricking the consumers not to provide support when their iPhones were damaged by water.

At the moment there is no comment from Apple regarding this.
